Garmin Forerunner 570 – New Sports Watch with Extensive Features
The Forerunner series has always been primarily targeted at runners and endurance athletes. Thanks to its broad portfolio, both beginners, ambitious athletes, and professionals can find a model suiting their needs, mainly differing in the number of features and metrics. Despite its focus on running, the sports watches provide excellent support for many sports disciplines.
Garmin Forerunner 570 specs
With the Forerunner 570, Garmin has created a series intended to bridge the gap between the 2xx and 9xx lines. Against this background, it’s worth comparing the key specifications of the new sports watch, which will be available in a small 42 mm model and a larger 47 mm version.

It’s not entirely clear which model the Forerunner 570 is primarily based on. Visually, the new model looks very similar to the Forerunner 265. Only the large, oval button on the upper right corner has returned to a round version. Otherwise, it retains the classic 5-button design of Garmin sports watches. Images will also be available here as soon as the watch is officially launched.
Furthermore, the smaller Forerunner 570 with its 1.2″ display seems more aligned with the Forerunner 265, while the version with the larger 1.4″ display resembles the Forerunner 965. The differences in weight and dimensions are minimal.
More noticeable are the differences in battery life compared to adjacent models. In some cases, the values are slightly lower than the older Forerunner 265 and consistently well below those of the Forerunner 965.
With 8 GB of storage, the Forerunner 570 matches the Forerunner 265. The significantly larger 32 GB storage for maps, apps, and music remains exclusive to the Forerunner 965.
New and Noteworthy
In terms of features, the Forerunner 570 clearly benefits from the Forerunner 965’s offerings. This isn’t surprising, as major new functions are usually reserved for premium models initially. Brand-new features include:
- Body Temperature
- Good Night Report
- Voice Control
- Bluetooth Calling
In addition to the new features, the Forerunner 570 borrows generously from existing products’ capabilities, including:
- Muscle Blood Oxygen Index
- Heat and Altitude Acclimatization
- Endurance Score
- Recovery Time
- Garmin Live Segments
- Strava Segments
- Climbing Score
- Climb Pro
- Around Me
Notably, the Forerunner 570 still uses the Elevate V4 sensor, meaning ECG capability is absent. Though some of Garmin’s country website list the offline maps feature, this one is obviously missing as well. The enhancements mainly involve sports-focused features that significantly set the Forerunner 570 apart from the Forerunner 265. The gap to the Forerunner 965 is much narrower, and it remains to be seen what Garmin will pack into the yet-to-be-announced Forerunner 970.
Pricing and Availability
Garmin has officially announced the Forerunner 570 on May 15. The watch is available in the following colors:
- Black, 42 mm
- White, 42 mm
- Mango, 42 mm
- Black, 47 mm
- White, 47 mm
- Violet, 47 mm
In addition to the standard colors black and white, the Mango and Violet models stand out with colorful bands and contrasting bezels. Given the wide range of features, the price of €549 is not surprising. At €599, the Forerunner 965 is only slightly more expensive but offers significantly better battery life and more storage.
